The first hibbets.net newsletter. We hope you enjoy!! This will be a very easy way for you to keep up with what's going on with hibbets.net and what Merri Beth and Jason Hibbets have been doing in Raleigh and elsewhere.

A quick recap of what happened in 2001 is below:

  • January 15, 2001 - Jason starts working at Alcatel as a CTAC DSL Engineer. Basically, I am technical support for Alcatel DSL equipment for our customers.
  • April 2001 - Merri Beth and Jason purchase a home in Raleigh. We became the proud owners of a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home in Raleigh, NC.
  • Spring 2001 - attend all home games for the Carolina Cobras Arena Football team.
  • Summer 2001 - we go to the beach all the time, fun & sun. We also caught Blink 182 (Awesome Show!!) at the Alltel Pavilion at Walnut Creek.
  • Fall 2001 - Tailgating with friends and attending all the home NC State football games.
  • October 6, 2001 - Wedding Day. Merri Beth and Jason were married at the John Blue House in Laurinburg, NC. You want pictures? Here they are!!
  • November 2001 - Our first Thanksgiving together. Merri Beth and I prepared a delightful meal together. Afterwards, we watched some football and movies, then put up our Christmas decorations.

 

December 2001 Newsletter

December 13 - TAC Holiday Event. I single handedly organized a Holiday event for my group at work (TAC - Technical Assistance Center). We had about 15-20 people join us at the Flying Saucer, downtown Raleigh, to enjoy the holidays as a group. We enjoyed good food, excellent beer, and the presence of each other outside of the office.

December 18-21 - Tangerine Bowl. The N.C. State football team made it to the post season again playing Pittsburgh in the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando Florida. Merri Beth and I flew down to Orlando a few days early. We went to Islands of Adventure on December 19 and continued the fun at City Walk that evening. We went to the Tangerine Bowl on December 20 and watched N.C. State lose to Pittsburgh 34-19. We had a good time anyway. The flight back to Raleigh was a nightmare. We missed our 7:45 flight. Merri Beth was lucky enough to get a direct flight to RDU and was home by 1:00. I unfortunately had to catch a later flight to Atlanta and finally got home at 6:30 in the evening. We plan on going back to Orlando at some point in the future, just for fun!

Christmas time was spent with both families. We traveled to Laurinburg, NC to see Merri Beth's family then to Kill Devil Hills, NC to visit my family. Finally, we came back to Raleigh to rest for a few days. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all our friends and family.

New Years was not very eventful for us. I had to work that night and got home just in time to watch Blink 182 and then watch the ball drop at Time Square (in addition to the Acorn dropping in Raleigh). Happy New Year!
